The Soncoz SGP1 is a massive Class AB amplifier, designed for integration into high-resolution audio systems, which the brand has been working on for three years. In addition to comfortable power, it provides excellent SNR and THD, offering a whole new level of performance in the world of discrete Class AB amplifiers. Each parallel NPN/PNP channel with push-pull output allows the SGP1 to accompany demanding loudspeakers in a more comfortable way. The SGP1 is also a model that reveals a beautiful musical expression, with deep bass and clear high frequencies.
Reference performance
High audio resolution is intrinsically linked to low noise and distortion. Thus, the brand has done some real design work to achieve excellent measurements. The SGP1 offers an SNR of 130dB at its maximum output level (A-Weighted), making it 15 to 30dB quieter than many of today's high-end amplifiers.
Strong output stages
The role of the power amplifier is to amplify the sound signal with high fidelity in order to allow the speakers to develop a precise movement. The SGP1 is thus able to meet the high power demands and impedance changes of the loudspeakers. To achieve this, it uses a patented module of four pairs of parallel push-pull amplifier circuits, with transistors allowing for a nice extension in the high frequencies. These circuits reduce the level of distortion at high frequencies or low volumes, resulting in extremely low noise and incredible sonic accuracy.
Patented driver module
The patented driver module developed by Soncoz virtually eliminates all traces of distortion, regardless of the signal input level and load conditions. The SGP1 shows no crossover distortion when the driver module is combined with the push-pull output stages, allowing for accurate low frequency development.
Custom power supply circuit
For the SGP1, Soncoz paid great attention to the power supply stage, so that it is able to provide the large amount of power needed to operate the amplifier modules. This allows the SGP1 to provide immediate and continuous power output. After the AC input, the SGP1 is equipped with two four large 2700µF 200V capacitors, which effectively suppress power supply interference and noise and thus provide a clean electrical signal for all audio circuits.
Efficient cooling
The Soncoz SGP1 is equipped with two large lateral heatsinks, each designed from a solid block of aluminum and precisely machined. This design provides a heat sink area of over 300mm² per amplifier. In addition, the heatsink fins vary slightly in thickness, helping to reduce resonance. This high efficiency of the heatsinks greatly improves the cooling capacity of the unit for safe operation at full power.
No heating required
Unlike most Class AB power amplifiers, the SGP1 reaches its maximum performance in less than a minute. Therefore, there is no need to leave the unit on when not in use. In addition, the SGP1's driver module ensures high stability over a wide temperature range.
A modern and elegant design
The SGP1 has a modern, sober and harmonious aesthetic, benefiting from a solid aluminum chassis. The front panel reveals a double orange luminous meter, indicating the output power delivered by the device.
